FAQ

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, Venmo and major credit cards.

What if I can't make it to my appointment?

Life happens and things come up, I totally get it! I will always do my best to accommodate you but, in an effort to be fair and effective to all of my clients, I request AT LEAST 24 hours notice should you need to reschedule your appointment.  This allows someone else the opportunity to take your slot. Same day cancellations up to 2 hours before your scheduled appointment time will be responsible for a fee equal to 50% of your session rate before being able to book again.  "No shows" will be responsible for 100% of their missed session rate before being able to rebook.  In the event of an emergency or illness, fees will be reassessed on a case by case basis.

What if I'm uncomfortable with something during the session (i.e. pressure)?

I am huge about communication!  Whether it be too much/not enough pressure, too hot/too cold, the head rest needs to be repositioned, you need more bolstering under your ankles/knees... whatever it is that will make you more comfortable, speak up! I promise you will not hurt my feelings :)

Do I need to have deep pressure in order to get the best results?

Each person is unique and pressure is not one-size-fits-all.  In fact, "deep pressure" is subjective and may not mean the same thing to different people.  Our goal is to work with whichever level of pressure that your muscles are the most responsive to.  This is what will get you the best results.  I have also noticed that some clients who have started off with lighter pressure begin to enjoy firmer pressure the more they come in for regular visits.

BOTTOM LINE: No pain, no gain is NOT the case here.

Can I keep my underwear on?

Absolutely!  Undergarments are completely optional and up to your comfort level.  You will be modestly draped with a sheet and a blanket during your entire session and only the area I am working on will be uncovered.

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

Massage therapy promotes relaxation which can help with reducing anxiety and stress, boosting your mental health and overall wellness. It can help lower blood pressure, improve circulation, relieve tension headaches and migraines, increase range of motion, decrease muscle tension, improve sleep and so much more!

How often should I get a massage?

Ideally, once per month.  This helps us progress towards your goals and keep the momentum moving forward.

If there's a specific injury we are working on or you are someone who beats up your body most days, more frequent sessions will likely be the way to go for you.

Ultimately, some massage is better than none so please don't be discouraged if you can't come in monthly.  You are welcome to come in as much or as little as fits your life.

When should I avoid getting a massage?

If you are sick, a massage will not be enjoyable.  Plus, you run the risk of spreading your germs to other clients (or myself) ...eek! Please use your discretion.  Another time to avoid massage? If you are experiencing a contagious skin infection, for obvious reasons!

Massage therapy is also contraindicated in some injuries and illnesses, at least in certain phases.  When in doubt, speak with your doctor first.  And always discuss any concerns with your massage therapist.

Will I hurt afterwards?

The honest answer... you may.  Especially with deeper work.  But, it should feel like a "workout sore" and only last for a day or two.

Can I talk during my session?

Your session is yours.  Some people are chatty and some people use it as nap time.  Either way is fine with me :)
